Lauffer sentenced

An Aurora man has been sentenced after pleading guilty as part of a drug investigation. 50-year old Ralph Lauffer, former owners of Lauffer's Handi-Mart, received 2-years and 6-months without parole during a sentencing hearing last Friday in Federal Court in Springfield.
According to Don Ledford, public relations officer for US Attorney Todd Graves office, Lauffer pleaded guilty last April 19th to
being a manager or supervisor in the conspiracy to distribute or possess pseudoephedrine, which is used to manufacture meth. According to the news release, Lauffer admitted that he distributed 10grams and 40 grams of pseudoephedrine, knowing that it would be used to make meth. \
Lauffer is the latest in a series of people charged and convicted in the investigation that authorities called "Operation Ice Palace". Lauffer will begin serving his sentence next month.
